Agua Fria Food & Clothing Bank is a non-profit organization that provides services to families and individuals in the Southwest Valley who are hungry, in need, or facing a crisis. Their programs give assistance to those who need emergency food assistance, those without housing, commodity supplemental food programs, school uniform programs, baby care, and a clothing bank.
The President of the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce reached out to us and asked us if we would be willing to help Agua Fria Food & Clothing Bank during the COVID-19 crisis as they were struggling to get volunteers and donations. We agreed and met up with the team at AFFCB. They informed us of all of their struggles including transforming their food bank into a drive-in and their annual fundraiser being canceled due to COVID-19. Their volunteer demographic was mostly elderly people who were now being advised to stay home. AFFCB needed marketing help to get the word out about their organization in order to get volunteers.
Once we finished discussing a social media plan for them, AFFCB informed us of how much the canceled fundraiser was going to affect their organization – and if it was even possible for them to keep running. They were in dire need of capital for a new air conditioning unit, they needed to fix a leaking roof and were in need of a new walk-in freezer. We discussed how we could transform their usual in-person event and shift that over to a virtual fundraising event.
Since the number of AFFCB’s volunteers had drastically reduced since the virus and they were in desperate need of more day-to-day volunteers, we created a social media plan for them. We took over AFFCB’s social media accounts, created an Instagram account for them, created a posting schedule, and encouraged them to create daily videos to use on these platforms. We posted graphics daily for AFFCB and stuck to a posting schedule for all of their pictures and videos.
We produced and executed the Strikeout Hunger 2020 event for AFFCB. The talks about a virtual fundraising event evolved into a virtual telethon. We were able to produce a 12-hour live broadcasting event for them with a list of entertainment, emcees, artists, an auction, and raffle.
