Inside the project
11 piecesA Wedding Day Across Gilbert and Mesa
Jonah and Marianne's wedding brought together meaningful traditions, family connections, and an unforgettable celebration across two beautiful Arizona locations.
Memories by Candace was selected to photograph the couple's wedding day, beginning at the Gilbert Arizona Temple and continuing through their evening reception at The Wright House in Mesa.
From the anticipation of their temple exit to the final moments of their reception, the photography focused on preserving the people, emotions, and experiences that made the day special.
Portraits at the Gilbert Arizona Temple
The Gilbert Arizona Temple provided a striking setting for the couple's wedding portraits, with its distinctive architecture, symmetrical design, and beautifully maintained grounds.
Following their temple sealing ceremony, Jonah and Marianne emerged at 11:00 AM to a joyful welcome from family and friends.
Because photography is not permitted inside the temple during the sealing ceremony, Candace concentrated on documenting the couple's exit, the reactions of their loved ones, and the portraits that followed outside.
Photographing in Arizona's midday sunlight presented its own challenges. With temperatures reaching approximately 107 degrees and the sun high overhead, the session required thoughtful positioning, careful use of available light, and an efficient approach to outdoor portraits.
The resulting photographs captured the couple against the temple's architecture and gardens while preserving the warmth and emotion of the occasion.
The People Who Made the Day Special
Beyond the portraits, much of the wedding's character came from the couple's family and friends.
Their loved ones gathered to celebrate the newlyweds, creating opportunities for candid photographs filled with laughter, hugs, and genuine connection.
Despite the summer heat, family members helped keep the outdoor portrait session comfortable, even providing umbrellas for shade and making sure everyone stayed hydrated.
Those thoughtful gestures reflected the supportive atmosphere surrounding the couple throughout the celebration.
Following their time at the temple, the wedding continued with a luncheon shared with close friends and family before the evening festivities began.
An Evening Celebration at The Wright House
The celebration moved to The Wright House in Mesa, where the atmosphere shifted from the elegance of the temple portraits to a lively wedding reception.
As the evening progressed, the dance floor filled with guests celebrating alongside Jonah and Marianne.
For Candace, capturing these moments meant moving with the celebration, anticipating expressions, and photographing the spontaneous interactions that make wedding receptions memorable.
The resulting images documented more than the scheduled events. They preserved the excitement, movement, and personality of a couple surrounded by the people they love.
A Final Dance Filled With Light
One of the evening's most memorable moments came during the couple's final dance.
Guests gathered around Jonah and Marianne and illuminated the dance floor with their phone flashlights, creating a circle of light around the newlyweds.
The unexpected lighting transformed the moment into an intimate and emotional scene, offering a striking photographic contrast to the bright Arizona sunlight earlier in the day.
The celebration concluded with a sparkler exit outside The Wright House, providing one final opportunity to capture the couple together before the night ended.
Photography That Preserves the Entire Experience
Jonah and Marianne's wedding illustrates the value of photography that adapts to every part of a celebration.
The day moved between distinct locations, lighting conditions, and emotional moments, from formal temple portraits and family gatherings to energetic reception coverage and a dramatic evening send-off.
Throughout those transitions, Memories by Candace focused on documenting the wedding naturally, balancing thoughtfully composed portraits with the spontaneous moments that tell the larger story.
The finished collection preserves not only how Jonah and Marianne's wedding looked, but how it felt to be part of their celebration.
